It’s all my fault.
That’s right, it was ME that first put these guys on the same stage, ME who turned the two hottest and heaviest new NY-based bands into the best of biffles, ME who forged the unholy alliance between Moon Tooth and Godmaker that now prepares to ravage its way through the eastern half of this poor, unsuspecting nation. Call me an egoist, call me a narcissist, call me what you will, but I KNOW when I’m right and I KNOW when I’m relevant, and in both cases it’s ALWAYS.
Of course, the infamous day after which you might say, “the rest is history”, was last December’s Feast of Krampus, where my faith in the power of Brooklyn metal was renewed as these two bands, alongside heavyweights Wino and 60 Watt Shaman, stole the show with performances powerful enough to grow the Sphinx a new nose. In the case of Godmaker, this power comes from a pristine execution of sludge, with thunderous lows, infernal riffage, and juuuuust the right amount of groove. As concerns Moon Tooth, it’s eye-opening musicianship, electrifying stage presence, and an approach to metal that is artistically unique in the truest sense. Taken separately, each of these bands represent the utmost in talented, innovative, and simply astonishing new heavy music. In tandem, they’re basically Voltron on cheeseballs.
